Kieran McKenna ends Tractor Boys’ 22-year exile from top flight with win over Huddersfield

The 2024/25 season will be Ipswich’s sixth in the Premier League. They will join 2023/24 Championship champions Leicester City.

Their highest Premier League finish came in 2000/01 when they finished in fifth place and qualified for the 2001/02 UEFA Cup.

Ipswich will formally become a Premier League team at the Premier League’s AGM in June.

They will discover their fixtures for the new season when the 2024/25 Premier League schedule is released at 09:00 BST on Tuesday 18 June. The campaign starts on 17 August.

Meanwhile, the teams placed third to sixth – Leeds, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City – will vie for the third promotion spot via the playoffs, which will conclude at Wembley Stadium on 26 May.

Arsenal goalkeeper can no longer be caught after securing shutout against Bournemouth

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has won the 2023/24 Castrol Golden Glove outright, claiming the prize in his first season with the Gunners.

Raya kept his 15th Premier League clean sheet of the season in Saturday’s 3-0 win over AFC Bournemouth, a total that cannot be matched.

His nearest rival, Everton’s Jordan Pickford, has 12 clean sheets but has only two matches remaining.

Raya is the third Arsenal ‘keeper to win the Golden Glove after Wojciech Szczesny and Petr Cech, who took the accolades in 2013/14 and 2015/16 respectively, with 16 clean sheets each.

He is the third Spaniard to claim the award after David De Gea, who won it in 2017/18 and 2022/23, and Pepe Reina, who claimed the prize in three consecutive seasons from 2005/06 to 2007/08.

Arsenal have scored 10 penalties in the Premier League this season

Arsenal have scored 10 penalties in the Premier League this season, with only Chelsea netting more (11). Indeed, this is the joint-most penalties the Gunners have scored in a single Premier League campaign, along with 2006-07.

All 10 of Arsenal’s outfield starters attempted at least one shot in this game, the first time this has happened in a Premier League game for the Gunners since January 2022 against Burnley.

Bournemouth have lost all 11 of their Premier League games against sides starting the day top of the table, the worst 100% loss rate against such opposition in the competition’s history.

David Raya has kept 15 clean sheets in the Premier League this season, with only Petr Cech (16 in 2015-16) keeping more shutouts in his debut Premier League campaign for the Gunners (David Seaman in 1992-93 & Jens Lehmann in 2003-04 both also 15 clean sheets each).

Cherries blunted by dominant Gunners

Bournemouth had won 1-0 at Wolves and 3-0 against Brighton & Hove Albion in their two Premier League encounters before this – but they have never triumphed in three consecutive top-flight games without conceding.

A wait for three straight such victories will go on into next season, though Andoni Iraola will look back on this campaign with fond memories.

They have never won more matches in a top-flight season than their 13 in 2023/24 (also 13 in 2018/19) and – despite this underwhelming performance – will have another chance to set an outright club record when they host Brentford before visiting Chelsea on the final day, with a top-half finish still possible.
